A prominent vocalist among the young generation of Iranian traditional musicians, Salar Aghili is known as a musician as well as a vocalist who is dedicated to pass on the values of Persian music from masters such as Mohammad Reza Shajarian to the next generation of music lovers. Salar Aghili was born in Tehran, Iran in 1977. He learnt music as a child following his mother’s encouragements. In 1994, he entered The Music Academy and learned the art of playing musical instruments such as Santoor, Taar, Setar, Tombak, the Piano as well the art of Persian Traditional singing called Avaaz (A form of Persian opera). He is Passionate about singing and encouraged by music masters, he chose singing as the way of expressing his feelings through the richness of Persian poetry. His silky voice and his tendency to produce genuine traditional music has elevated him to a special place within the musical fraternity. Ecstatic yearnings of Sufism in his work has opened his way into the hearts of many music enthusiasts. He learnt the art of Avaaz (a type of Persian opera) from prominent Maestros such as Mohammad Reza Shajaryan and Seddigh Tarif . He founded RAZ O NIAZ, a traditional music ensemble in 1998 and has since performed many concerts inside Iran and abroad. These concerts have taken him to places such as Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands (RASA festival), Hafez Commemoration in Austria, Molana Commemoration in Strassbourg & Theatre de la Ville of Paris, Spanish Murcia music festival, Canada & U.S.A.

SALAR AGHILI SET TO THRILL AUDIENCES ACROSS AUSTRALIA

One of the world’s most celebrated classic vocalists, Salar Aghili, is set to tour Australia later this year. Persian communities across the country have welcomed the announcement that this highly acclaimed musician, who is recognized not only in Iran, but throughout Europe for his contribution to the rich heritage of Persian verse, is to begin his tour in Perth at the end of October. “We are thrilled that Salar has agreed to this national tour and encouraged by the positive feedback we’ve received from communities across the country,” said Al Sharifian of Far Vahar Entertainment.

A highlight of Salar Aghili’s 2011 Australian Tour is the accompaniment of Hossein Behroozinia, notably one of Iran’s most highly praised musician. Behroozinia is a Barbat (oud) virtuoso, recognized as one of just a handful in the world who has mastered the art of playing the Barbat. He has toured in USA, Canada and Europe on numerous occasions and performed in a number of unforgettable concerts with Mohammad Reza Shajarian, Shahram Nazeri, Sima Bina and Parissa, all of whom are famous Iranian vocalists.

The tour kicks off in Perth on 30 October and will then move on to Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra for a final performance at the National Gallery of Australia on 12th November.
